Klondike Solitaire Turn 3
Klondike solitaire with turn 3: you draw three cards at a time from the stockpile and can only play the top one. The classic Windows setting and the real challenge for solitaire fans. Free, on green felt, no sign-up, no download.
How to play
- Build each suit on the four foundations from ace up to king.
- In the seven columns, stack cards in descending order with alternating colors, such as a red 6 on a black 7.
- Click the stockpile to turn over three cards at once. Only the top card of the waste pile can be played.
- When you play the top card, the card underneath it becomes playable.
- When the stockpile is empty, click it to turn the waste pile over and go through it again. There is no limit.
- Only a king, or a run starting with a king, can go into an empty column.
- You win when all 52 cards are on the foundations.
Tips and tricks
- Count the stockpile in groups of three. If you play one card from the waste pile, every later group of three shifts by one card, so cards you could not reach before come up.
- Before drawing, check the whole table. In turn 3 a move on the table is almost always worth more than a new card from the stockpile.
- Free up face-down cards in the columns first. They are the biggest obstacle in turn 3.
- Do not move cards to the foundations too early. In turn 3 you often need them to hold runs while you wait for the right card.
- Hesitating? Undo a few moves and try another route. Learning the order of the stockpile is part of the game.
About Klondike Turn 3
Turn 3 solitaire, also called draw 3, is Klondike the way many people first learned it on Windows. The layout is the same as in every Klondike game: seven columns, a stockpile and four foundations. The difference is in the stockpile. Every time you click it, three cards are turned over at once, and only the top card of those three can be played.
That makes turn 3 a game of planning. The cards underneath only become available once you play the card on top, and the order of the stockpile shifts with every card you take from it. Fewer games can be won than in turn 1, so every win feels earned.
This page starts in turn 3 straight away. Prefer one card at a time? Switch to Draw 1 in the menu above the game, or play our classic solitaire in turn 1. You can go through the stockpile as often as you like, undo every move, ask for a hint and play the same daily deal as everyone else.
